Public interest focuses more and more on environmental protection. This is also the case in the fields of premium upholstery furniture. Christian Dorn, designer and CEO of the STILTREU designstudio is also concerned about this issue: "Personally I care a lot about the materials I am surrounded with and I have the same demand for my customers. For this reason, at STILTREU we pay careful attention to the origin of the different materials."

One of these environmentally friendly materials is the olive leaf tanned leather BlattWERK, that is procured by Leder-Fiedler. It is not tanned like conventional leathers with sulfuric acid and salt, but with a new, sustainable technique, all naturally tanned with olive leaves. The ecological production is free of contaminants and the waste material is fully recyclable.

"With this leather, we are not only doing something good for the environment, but also for the people that get in contact with these materials every day", says the designer "But the choice for BlattWERK was not totally altruistic. The leather has fantastic haptics and a delightful smell".

At STILTREU the innovative leather will be applied for the first time with the new easy chair SOFT of the Christian Dorn collection. Besides creative accents, like the levitating appearance and the round shape, the designer paid much attention to ecological aspects. Hence, for the easy chair SOFT, local and sustainable woods like beech, oak and ash are used for production.

The new easy chair SOFT by Christian Dorn will be available from now on from premium retailers and from the STILTREU designstudio directly.
